A new village group was formed in April 2021 with the purpose:

• To raise awareness in the community of the climate and nature emergency.
• To provide information about the emergency in ways accessible to everyone and to support individuals in making their lives more sustainable.
• To gently encourage behavioural changes in lifestyles.
• To encourage children to engage with nature and their environment in fun ways.
• To involve as many people and groups within our community to engage with environmental sustainability.

We are planning to focus on a specific topic every two or three months, to provide information about this topic and, when appropriate, hold an event in which villagers can participate and find out more.

In June 2021 we promoted walking some of the local footpaths and appreciating nature around us under the heading of ‘Love where you live’.  Copies of the walks can be found here

Home Energy Efficiency – information and funding

The winter of 2022-23 will be difficult for many people as the cost of home heating has risen and the related cost-of-living crisis impacts so many of us.

By making our homes more energy efficient we can start to reduce the amount of energy we use which can lead to lower bills – whilst also helping to reduce our carbon emissions.

Energy Champion

We also now have an Energy Champion in the village who has been trained to provide information about home energy efficiency, no-cost tips, practical ideas and where to find further help and advice.  If you would like him to come to an event in the village, please contact Anne – see details below.

Future topics may include waste and recycling, food waste and healthy eating, home energy, transport (healthy and active travel), nature biodiversity in the parish, and a community orchard.
